Course Overview
Course No. 3166
Uncover the undeniable legacy that the Mesopotamians left the world. When we imagine life thousands of years ago, we often picture primitive settlements—but by 5,000 years ago, Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) had developed sophisticated cities with towering temples, palaces with plumbing, and complex societies.
This region flourished for two-thirds of civilization’s existence, mastering irrigation, writing, law, and diplomacy. Unlike Greece or Rome, Mesopotamia’s rich history was rediscovered only recently, thanks to the decipherment of cuneiform. In this 24-lecture course by Professor Podany, explore a world that shaped human history.
